the yoga rooms

We are a not-for-profit co-operative, set up by a group of Manchester yoga teachers with the intention of providing a high standard of teaching in a purpose designed venue. We are committed to offering classes for all members of the local comunity and will be funded to provide classes for specific groups - such as Asian women or the unwaged. It is our hope that the Yoga Room will provide a central focus for Yoga in South Manchester as well as a welcoming and accessible environment for yoga practitioners.

Christine: Christine enjoys the challenge of making yoga accesible to everyone. Her teaching reflects an interest in fluid movement infused with the supportive rhythm of the breath. This enables us to reconnect to our fundamental sense of well-being. Christine brings attention to precision and clarity within her teaching.

Louise: Louise trained in many styles of Western yoga before she trained with A.G. Mohan, long time student of Shri Krishnamacharya (father of modern yoga). Her teaching is firmly rooted in this classical tradition, following the ancient teachings of Patanjali's sutras. The practice of yoga is for a peaceful mind and healthy body. The focus of a physical practice is to begin with an attitude of acceptance, to follow a smooth breath, and to move in all 3 axis emphasizing the spine. This practice helps us to develop physical and mental strength and flexibility so that we can live fully.

Keren: Yogabugs teacher. She teaches yoga to 3-7year olds through story telling to incorporate yoga postures and enhance concentration and flexibility in children

Kelle: Vinyasa Flow: Dynamically paced class with a focus on flowing movement and alignment in standing poses, arm balances, backbends, twists, seated poses and inversions. Modifications and alignment principles will be offered for all postures to ensure safety for all body types. There is an emphasis on yoga as a tool for mindfulness.

Vicki Shields: Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga: A series of postures threaded together with a continuous breath. Asthanga Vinyasa is designed to reveal the full depth of yoga. It implies intelligent balanced evolution and produces remarkable strength, flexibility and clearness of mind.

Manjunaga: He likes to explore flowing movement, stilling postures, and intimacy with the breath. He feels yoga is a awareness practice, offering us a opportunity to become more fully embodied in our experience. allowing for a greater sensitivity to our emotional and physical well being. He has spent several years teaching meditation and Buddhism and is particularly interested in exploring qualities of stillness and spaciousness through his yoga teaching.
